Why this process
- Cu–Al terminals weld directly — resistance welding cannot do this reliably.
- No filler metal means no flux residue inside the barrel.
- Low heat keeps the wire insulation intact.
- Power, frequency and time are set on the controller for repeatable joints.
Typical applications
Ring and fork terminals on battery cables · heavy harness lugs · copper-to-aluminium transition joints · 50–120 sqmm class cable terminations.
FAQs
Can copper be welded to aluminium?
Yes — ultrasonic welding joins dissimilar metals directly, which is why Cu–Al cable terminations are a standard use of this machine.
Is the weld as conductive as a crimp?
The strands and terminal are consolidated into solid metal with no filler, so the joint keeps near-zero added resistance.
Does it need a special fixture?
The terminal is located by the anvil; different barrel sizes use a matched anvil insert rather than a new machine.
